The HDD Profile for Jambatan Ayer Itam, Penang, highlights Teraband Smart Solution Sdn Bhd.’s success in completing a complex Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) project. Crossing the river at Ayer Itam posed significant challenges, requiring exceptional precision and expertise. With a total length of 150m and 132m, at depths reaching 21m, the project utilised OS35T machines and 200mm x 12 + 110mm x 6 (4 circuits) HDPE PN10 red pipe

This project involves significant challenges due to the intricate nature of constructing the bridge. The foundation and concrete work are particularly complex, as the riverbed contains a substantial amount of sand, which poses risks such as sinking and instability. Furthermore, the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations are highly sensitive to these conditions, and the presence of sand could jeopardize their success. Additionally, maintaining consistent piloting signals in this environment presents another layer of difficulty, further emphasizing the technical expertise required to complete this project successfully. Our use of advanced mandrel test and gyroscope mapping test ensured alignment and durability, proving our capability to handle demanding projects.
